Strip of bobbin lace with an S-shaped cartouche and pear-shaped flower

Strip of natural-coloured bobbin lace, Binche lace. The repeating and continuous pattern consists of an S-shaped cartouche, formed by two long feathered leaves. Halfway up a feathered leaf splits off and runs with a large arch, in the opposite direction, so that a circular shape is formed and the large pear-shaped flower at the end touches the bottom edge of the strip. The motifs flow into each other and are, where they do not touch, connected by decorative grounds, different snowflake grounds. The motifs are made in linen stitch with openwork edges. Net stitch fillings are decorated with snowflakes. Top and bottom edges of the strip are finished straight, the bottom edge being provided with picots. Three seams run across the width of the strip.
