About this work

Tablecloth of linen damask with the coat of arms of Cornelis Hop. Central field: symmetrical pattern of various volute scrolls with blocked thickenings at the nodes. Between them a horizontal oval shield with the coat of arms of Cornelis Hop (1685-1762), ambassador at the court of King Louis XV of France: quarterly, 1 and 4 a head-bird standing on a globe (the bird of 1 reversed, that of 4 looking back); 2 and 3 two wings reversed. Heart shield divided: 1 a fess, 2 right a five-pointed star, left a wassenaar facing. The shield topped with a five-petaled crown. Supporters: right a reversed eagle, left a reversed lion. Borders: armorial trophies. Corners: a rondas. Surrounding block border.
