Strip bobbin lace with a sequence of eight-lobed rosette flowers

Strip of natural-colored bobbin lace: Russian lace (ribbon lace). The pattern is formed by bobbin-laced ribbons of equal width. The pattern consists along the bottom of the strip of a series of symmetrical eight-petaled rosette flowers, with in the large openwork center a cross of four double braids. Above this row of rosette flowers runs a continuous ribbon that, while swirling, alternately forms a one-petaled leaf and a three-petaled leaf, of which the middle leaf protrudes between the rosette flowers. The motifs are connected to each other by a few picoted braids. The ribbons are made in linen stitch with openwork edges and with a thicker thread in the middle of the ribbon providing relief. The top is finished straight with a bobbin-laced and fine decorative band of linked snowflakes. The shell edge along the bottom of the strip is formed by the lower lobes of the rosette flowers.
