About this work

Cuff of natural-coloured mixed lace - bobbin lace combined with a needle lace ground - Brussels duchesse. The pattern consists of heart-shaped leaves, placed in threes and fives, and alternated with clusters of roses (or berries?). The motifs are bobbin-worked in linen stitch and net stitch. The large motifs are accentuated by contour threads, consisting of coarsely attached thread bundles. The lace is set on a black (artificial) silk ground.
