About this work

Sampler of silk on cotton. The embroidery features on the central field two rows of cartouches with inscriptions, below which the coat of arms of Amsterdam flanked by an oak tree with initials IA and a stylized flower motif with initials AR. Running around is a border with various alphabets and monograms.
