About this work
Oak writing desk veneered with rosewood and maple. The ornaments are of gilded copper or bronze. The front legs, placed diagonally, bear lion's paws with foliage; the corner posts at the top feature a lion's head with a garland, and the double bracket-shaped lower apron has a vase form with garland and foliage. The two lower doors, the drop-leaf, the drawer above it, and the sides display rectangular fields within a band with braided corners. Blue-grey veined marble top; decorated key plates.
