Strip of natural-colored bobbin lace: Mechelen lace. The repeating pattern consists of a row of loose and recumbent flower branches with a small rosette flower, a cup flower and some whimsically shaped leaves. Along the bottom lie linked fields formed by a sparse vine with narrow whimsical leaves. The motifs are connected to each other by a fine mesh ground, the Mechelen ground. The sparse solid work is made in linen stitch, with thicker and shiny contour threads. One type of decorative ground is applied, scattered with knots made in shape stitch. This decorative ground is applied in the linked fields along the bottom of the strip and in the flower hearts of the flowers that emerge from it. The top and bottom are finished straight, with the bottom provided with picots.
