Strip of bobbin lace with trapezoidal fields divided by double vines

Strip of natural-colored bobbin lace: Mechelen lace. The repeating and symmetrical pattern consists of two trapezoidal fields, formed by oblique lines alternating left and right. The lines originate from the lower edge and are formed by double sparse vines, with some berries at the top. Alternating at the upper edge hang a half palm leaf and a small cartouche, surrounded by leaves and a flower. A somewhat similar cartouche lies along the lower edge directly under the half palm leaf. The motifs are connected by a mesh ground, the Mechelen ground. The motifs are worked in linen stitch with thicker and shiny contour threads. Two different grounds are applied in the cartouches and between the double vines. The upper edge is straight finished.
