Border of bobbin lace with two volute leaves in a vase

Strip of natural-colored bobbin lace: Beveren lace. The repeating and symmetrical pattern consists of a flower pot with, to the left and right, a long lateral branch with two flowers, and above that in the center a cone-shaped motif between two large volute leaves. Between the successive pots, along the upper edge, stands a small flower pot with five rosette flowers and directly below that an oval wrapped in leaves. The motifs are connected by a fine lattice ground, a tulle ground. The motifs are executed in linen stitch, with thicker and shiny contour threads. A rose ground is applied as decorative ground, and in the volute leaves a decoration is realized with overlapping pairs. The top and lower edges of the strip are finished straight, the lower edge provided with picots.
