About this work

Play purse of wine-red velvet, embroidered in gold- and silver-thread and multicoloured silk with an unidentified alliance coat of arms. Model: flat round base with a wavy raised edge around it provided with holes through which a cord of yellow and red silk - ending in a button with a wooden core covered in yellow silk and metal thread - is drawn. On the edge are two buttons - with a core of wood wrapped in silk - sewn halfway. Lined with goat leather. Decoration: the 20 protrusions or 'ribs' are decorated with long stacked ornaments with lobes at the bottom, wings in the middle and curls on top. Along the top the whole is edged with a narrow silver passementerie. The base is circled with a double border within which a zigzag line of silver thread. Herein in relief a golden-coloured field upon which an unknown double coat of arms.
