About this work
Strip of natural-colored needle lace: Alençon lace. Pattern with a repetitive motif of medallions on a fine hexagonal mesh ground, scattered with rosettes. Inside the medallions, alternately a tulip and a rose branch. The outer edge of the medallions consists of diverse flowers and leaves that increase in size towards the bottom. Decorative grounds in a single flower and in the space formed by C-scrolls between the medallions. The lower side is finished with a scalloped edge derived from the pattern. The upper side is edged with a bobbin lace border.
