Baptismal veil of tulle embroidery

Baptismal veil of natural-colored tulle with tulle embroidery: along the edges with tambour work on machine-made tulle and above the lining in the corners and in the center appliqués. Rectangular model with a lining of very light blue silk. In each corner is a branch with six flowers, possibly marigolds. In the center are similar flowers gathered in a circle. The appliqués were made by embroidering flowers on a piece of batiste with blanket stitch and cord stitch. Possibly a whole piece of batiste was always attached to the tulle and only afterwards parts of the batiste were cut away, following the shape of the embroidered motifs. The edge of the veil is finished with a strip of coarser tulle with a pattern of smaller and different flowers made with tambour work. The strip is attached with few fine pleats, strongly pleated in the corners.
