Strip of bobbin lace with reserves and poppy heads and flowers

Strip of natural-colored bobbin lace: Mechlin lace. The repeating pattern consists of a reserve, which is cut through by a branch with poppy heads and poppy flowers. Along the lower side lie two reserves against each other, with different fillings and framed by linked leaves and pointed ovals. In the middle between the two reserves a branch springs with three flowers each with six oval petals. The motifs are connected by a fine mesh ground. In the reserves ornamental grounds have been applied with coarser meshes. The motifs are made in linen stitch with few cutouts and with thick contour threads. The slightly scalloped lower side is finished with picots. Along the straight upper side a strip of tulle is sewn.
