About this work

Strip of natural-colored needle lace, point de France. Pattern without repeat but with recurring motifs, including small birds, on a hexagonal ground with picoted bars. Solid work decorated with cutouts, motifs partly without and partly with cords. At the straight edge on the lower side hang small picoted arches. The sides are finished with palmettes. The upper side is edged with a bobbin lace border.
