Baptismal veil of needle lace on tulle (appliqué lace)

Baptismal veil of natural-colored applied lace: needle lace applied to machine-made tulle. Rectangular model where two diagonally opposite corners are finished rounder than the other two corners. Around the large unadorned central field, repeating applications are arranged in two rows. The inner border consists of a succession of the same bouquet. In the center of this bouquet stands a round flower with many pointed petals and around it flower branches with smaller flowers, including plume flowers, some rosette flowers and round goblet flowers. The outer border consists of a succession of a lying flower branch with rosette flowers, goblet flowers and plume flowers with below it a comparable round flower with pointed petals as in the bouquet, but slightly smaller. These round flowers create the scalloped edge along the outside of the veil. The motifs are provided with contour threads and decorative stitches are applied in the flowers.
