About this work
Batiste handkerchief with block pattern made with drawn thread work (hemmed hems) along which narrow lines of work with drawn threads. In the line play of drawn thread work dots are embroidered (white work) in long lines and short lines and diamonds. The handkerchief is finished with a strip of bobbin lace: Valenciennes lace. The lace strip has a scallop edge which is accentuated by a wavy line in linen stitch. In each scallop is a bud and the edge is finished with picots.
