Border of bobbin lace with fuchsias above overflowing waves

Strip of natural-coloured bobbin lace, Valenciennes lace. The repeating pattern consists of two fuchsia flowers, which hang down on a slightly curved stem on the midline of the strip. The flowers almost touch the wave trough, between the high overlapping waves along the underside of the strip. The waves are made of feathered leaves and acanthus leaves placed against each other, in the form of C- and S-scrolls. Between the fuchsia branches a bouquet of rosette flowers originates at a C-scroll, crowned by an openwork S-scroll of leaves and twigs. The motifs are connected by a mesh ground, a diamond-shaped Valenciennes ground. The work is largely made in linen stitch with cutouts and openwork edges and partly in net stitch. As decorative ground, among others, snowflake grounds and loose snowflakes are applied. The top of the strip is finished with a separately bobbin-edged band. The shells along the bottom are finished with picots.
