About this work
High hat, chapeau claque, of dull black grosgrain silk. The cylindrical crown bulges slightly from the top. The brim is flat at the front and back, but clearly rising on the side, with the edge ribbon bent back inwards. Spring mechanism. Narrow hat ribbon with a flat bow. In a flat carrying box with the golden firm stamp of the supplier on the shiny black paper: crowned circle with a griffin/ E L / BREVETE S.G. ? ? / PARIS, frans Pauwels, fournisseur de la Cour, La HAYE.
