About this work

Strip of natural-coloured bobbin lace, Brussels lace. Under two rows of openwork flowers the repeating pattern along the lower side of the strip consists of a stringing together of rosette flowers with openwork flower hearts. The motifs are connected by a fine mesh ground, a drochel ground. The motifs are made in linen stitch with thicker, and shiny contour threads. In the flower hearts overhanging pairs create a decorative effect. The upper side of the strip is finished straight. The shells at the lower side are finished with picots.
