Strip of bobbin lace with loose S-shaped branches on the center line

Strip of natural-colored bobbin lace: Lille lace. The repeating pattern consists on the center line of loose S-shaped twigs, with leaves and one round flower crowned by two leaves and a small circle. Along the underside of the strip a continuous pattern is formed by a stringing together of leaves, arches, and openwork ovals, one of which is crowned by a pearl border. The motifs are connected by a fine mesh ground, a tulle ground. The motifs are made in linen stitch with some large cutouts and with thicker, shiny contour threads. Decorative grounds are applied in the ovals along the underside and in a pointed oval-shaped space between a leaf and the S-shaped twig. The small circles on the flowers are decorated with one buttonhole, made in buttonhole stitch, worked into a sparing piece of decorative ground. The top edge of the strip is finished straight. The very shallowly scalloped underside is finished with picots.
