Strip of bobbin lace with butterflies

Strip of natural-colored bobbin lace, Honiton lace. The repeating pattern consists of flowers and leaves in different types and sizes between which a butterfly flutters downwards. The motifs are connected by picoted plaits. The motifs are made in densely worked linen stitch and in mesh stitch, with fine openwork edges and cutouts. The motifs are accentuated with contour threads and worked relief contours. In some openwork flower hearts one or more squares are made in buttonhole stitch. The upper side of the strip is finished with a separately worked band. The scalloped edge along the lower side follows the shapes of the bottom row of flowers and leaves and is finished with picots. The short sides are finished with a hem on which several snap buttons are sewn.
