About this work

Strip of natural-coloured bobbin lace, Binche lace. On a lattice ground, a five-hole ground, stands a running pattern of a vine with large tulip, of which a petal shows an inner drawing of a flower branch. The vine is interrupted by large, lobed and halved transverse ovals with rosettes and pearl edge. The motifs are executed in linen stitch with openwork edges and in net stitch. As a decorative ground a snowflake ground is applied. The scallops are unequal and stretched. The finishing of the scallops is largely damaged.
