About this work
Medallion carpet, Yuruk or "Sultan". Central field: dark blue ground with a cardinal purple medallion with extensions at head and tail, filled with rhombuses in many muted colors. Field filling of four large flowers divided into kaleidoscopic color squares and many small rosettes. Border: multiple. The widest is orange, with cross flowers. Three plain inner borders in white, cerise, and blue. The outer selvage is brown.
