About this work

Prayer rug with diamonds, Kazak. Central field: dark terracotta-red mihrab and niches. In the niche three small diamond-shaped medallions, two in dark green and the middle one in dark blue, each divided into four diamonds in beige/dark blue and beige/dark green. Field filling of two hexagons with red flower clusters and scattered cross-blocks in eight parts of beige, green, white, dark blue and gold ochre. Borders: triple. The widest with wine glass motifs on the inner side on white triangles and on the outer side on differently colored triangles, which are separated from each other by a saw-tooth leaf. The inner border running around the niche is, like the outer border of dark blue with diamonds.
