Cuff of appliqué lace with a flower branch and ornamental border

Cuff of natural-coloured Brussels appliqué lace: mixed lace - bobbin lace with a needle lace ground - applied to machine-made tulle. Strip-shaped model with a widening in the middle. Symmetrical pattern of a bobbin-worked branch with flowers and leaves and a rose in the middle, applied to machine-made tulle. The motifs are made in linen stitch with sparingly applied cut-outs and with thin, shiny contour threads. Thread bundles provide relief contours which accentuate petals and leaf veins. Along the short side and underside this pattern is framed by a wide decorative band. From inside to outside this frame consists of a slightly wavy chain of linked ovals, applied to the machine-made tulle. Then a double bobbin-worked frame between which a rhomboid needle lace ground, with dots and wheel picots at the intersections. The outer, bobbin-worked, frame consists of linked half-rings with elongated ovals underneath, which are alternately bobbin-worked in linen stitch and net stitch.
