Shawl collar of applied lace with radially placed pineapple or pomegranate motifs

Shawl collar of appliqué lace (batiste applied to machine-made tulle): Carrickmacross lace. U-shaped model with pointed tapering ends. The symmetrical pattern features five radially directed pineapple or pomegranate motifs. Each originates from a double volute leaf along the inner edge of the collar. Each pair of volute leaves is connected by a rosette flower to the next pair of volute leaves with a pineapple (or pomegranate) motif. The pointed oval fruits are symmetrical, with an ornamental ground in the core and a wide openwork edge with picoted zigzag. The middle and largest three fruits are crowned by a rosette flower. The irregular scalloped edge along the outer side of the collar arises from curved flower and leaf motifs. The scalloped edges are finished all around with picots.
