About this work
Handkerchief of natural-colored batiste with woven stripes along the edges and diagonally placed in one corner a motif in embroidery: whitework. The embroidered motif concerns the alliance arms of Bosch Reitz and Teding van Berkhout. Embroidery technique: satin stitch, stem stitch, backstitch, sand stitch, and flannel stitch. Arms: the arms stand leaning diagonally against each other and are jointly crowned by a helm crest with mantling, which is flanked by acanthus leaves. On the shield of Bosch Reitz are two stars above a French lily. On the coat of arms of Teding van Berkhout are bars and a swan.
