About this work

Strip of natural-coloured bobbin lace, Lille lace. The continuous pattern consists along the lower edge of the strip of linked and whimsical S-shaped motifs. Above stands on the centre line a row of square cushions in a fine mesh ground, a tulle ground. The motifs are made in linen stitch with thicker and shiny contour threads. The cushions are made in shaped stitch. The upper edge of the strip is finished straight and sewn on to a strip of machine-made tulle. The slightly scalloped lower edge is finished with picots.
