About this work

Strip of natural-coloured bobbin lace: Mechelen lace. The repeating pattern consists of a sparse tendril that forms a very shallow scalloped edge along the lower edge of the strip. In each scallop springs from the tendril a three-lobed fan-shaped leaf. The tendril with leaves is made in a fine mesh ground, a Mechelen ground. The sparse filling is made in linen stitch with thicker and shiny contour threads. Along the upper edge of the strip a strip of tulle is attached, both strips are finished straight. The very shallow scalloped edge is finished with picots.
