About this work
Strip of natural-coloured bobbin lace, Lille lace. The pattern consists of two rows of open cushions on the centre line of the strip, with directly below along the lower edge of the strip a row of closely placed standing leaves. The motifs are connected by a fine mesh ground, a tulle ground. The motifs are made in linen stitch and net stitch, with thicker, shiny contour threads. The cushions are larger meshes in the tulle ground accentuated with a contour thread. The upper edge of the strip is finished straight. The scallops along the lower edge, which are formed by the leaves, are finished with picots.
