Strip of machine-made lace with cup-shaped flower on C-shaped branch

Strip of natural-coloured machine lace: machine Valenciennes lace. The repeating pattern consists of a C-shaped twig from which the convex side of the C a cup-shaped flower springs and at the top of the C a leaf. Along the lower side of the strip lies a series of shorter and longer straight lines, which curl slightly upwards at the ends. Between the curling ends is between the flowers with circles a kind of semi-circular cartouche realized, in which an ornamental ground is applied. The motifs appear to be made in linen stitch with openwork edges. The motifs are connected to each other by a machine square Valenciennes ground. Top and bottom side of the strip are finished straight, the lower side being provided with picots.
