About this work

Strip of natural-coloured bobbin lace, Old Flemish lace. The repeating pattern consists of a symmetrical volute vine with a lobed flower in the centre and at the slightly curling ends of the vine two flower buds. The motifs are connected by a mesh ground, a five-hole ground. The motifs are worked in linen stitch with openwork edges. Top and bottom edges are finished straight, with picots on the underside.
