Strip of appliqué lace with a row of lying S-shaped flower stems

Strip of natural-coloured Dutch bobbin lace. The repeating pattern consists of a row of lying S-shaped flower stems, with a curling leaf on each side of each stem and at the end a round flower heart with five lobes. The successive flower stems touch each other at the beginning and end and thus form a continuous wavy pattern. The motifs are worked in linen stitch with openwork edges and are connected by a trellis ground, a five-hole ground. The top and bottom sides of the strip are finished straight.
