About this work
Strip of natural-colored bobbin lace: pot lace. The repeating and symmetrical pattern consists of a stylized oval flower pot in a kidney-shaped medallion. The medallion stands on an elongated bracket-shaped line from which ten flowers spring on short stems. These include cup flowers and at each end a fan-shaped flower. The motifs are made in linen stitch with openwork edges and are connected by a five-hole ground. In the medallions and in some flowers a coarser diamond lattice ground is applied as decorative ground. The top and bottom of the strip are finished straight, the bottom side provided with picots.
