About this work

Strip of natural-colored bobbin lace, old Flemish lace. The repeating pattern consists of a continuous, wavy vine with various flowers and leaves including palm flowers and volute leaves. The motifs are connected by a hexagonal mesh ground. The motifs are made in linen stitch with openwork edges and some cut-outs. Almost all flowers and leaves are filled within their outline with a decorative ground. Top and bottom of the strip are finished straight, with picots along the bottom edge.
