About this work
Strip of natural-colored Brussels appliqué lace: needle lace applied on drochet ground. The repeating pattern consists along the underside of the strip of a continuous wavy vine with oval leaves on either side, openwork ovals and one-sided bell flowers. Above that a scatter pattern of loose rosette flowers, a single star and a twisting branch. The sparse filling is enclosed by festooned thread bundles. The upper side is finished with a separately cutwork band. The almost straight finished underside is provided with very fine picots.
