Strip of bobbin lace with bows

Strip of natural-colored bobbin lace, Lille lace. The repeating and continuous pattern begins below the center line of the strip and consists of a kind of bows connected to each other by a configuration of four small circles, above which always a configuration of three buttonholes can be seen. A wavy line along the underside is formed by a stringing together of small circles, of which the two small circles on the wave crests are always slightly larger. The motifs at the top of the pattern are connected by a fine mesh ground, a tulle ground. The buttonholes are made in buttonhole stitch. The motiflets are largely made with a decorative ground and surrounded by thicker and shiny contour threads. The top edge is finished straight. The wavy line forms the scallops along the underside, which are finished with picots.
