About this work
Strip of natural-coloured bobbin lace, Old Flemish lace. The repeating and continuous pattern consists of a wavy vine with two flowers and hardly any leaves. One flower splits off from the vine under the wave crest, the other halfway the wave crest with a slightly curved branch, so that the flower ends in the middle above a wave trough. The motifs are connected to each other by a lattice ground, a five-hole ground. The work is largely made in linen stitch with openwork edges. Top and bottom of the strip are finished straight, whereby the bottom edge is provided with picots.
