About this work
Gown strip of Brussels appliqué lace: bobbin lace with needle lace decorative stitches applied to machine-made tulle ground. The repeating pattern consists of flower branches and napkin work. Ground sown with knots. The motifs are made in net stitch and linen stitch with openwork edges and provided with contour threads. The scalloped edge along the underside of the strip comes from the pattern and is finished with picots. The upper side is finished with a separate knotted band. The strip comes with a note with the text: 'Coba from her Mother. Later give to Anneke'.
