About this work

Linen runner with edges of bobbin lace, Antwerp lace, at the short sides. The repeating and continuous lace pattern consists of a regularly wavy leaf vine with a large upward curling rosette flower in each wave valley and a smaller downward curling rosette flower under each wave top. The leaves have various shapes and fillings. The motifs are connected by a plait ground. They are made in linen stitch with openwork edges. Different decorative grounds are used in the leaves, including fine and coarser snowflake grounds. Motifs in the flower hearts are made in shape stitch. The straight underside of the strips is finished with picots.
