Band of needle lace with ovals on tops and in valleys of wavy leafy branch

Strip of natural-colored needle lace: Argentan lace. The strip was part of an engagante and is narrowed on the left side. The largely repeating pattern consists of a regularly wavy branch, with three ovals at the highest and lowest point of each wave. Under each wave crest hangs a flower branch. From the top edge of the strip hangs a large flower branch in each wave valley. The flower branches vary. The motifs are composed of festoon stitches with cutouts as decoration and provided with relief contours. The wavy branch has a ladder pattern. The motifs are connected by a hexagonal ground of festooned meshes, an Argentan ground. The flat scalloped edge is formed by a flower garland, which forms pointed oval cartouches at regular intervals containing different decorative grounds. The top edge of the strip is finished straight with a knotted band.
