Strip of Machine-Made Lace with Diagonally Placed and Deeply Cut Seven-Lobed Flowers

Strip of natural-colored machine-made lace. The strip consists of two parts sewn together, with a very clear coarse seam. The repeating pattern consists from top to bottom of: two rows of widely scattered rosette flowers; three rows of flower branches and along the lower side regular arches of seven rosette flowers. In the field below each arch a fine lattice ground with mosses, which along the straight lower side of the strip is closed by a row of leaves with one rosette flower in the middle, directly below the arch. A narrow border along the upper side of the strip has the pattern of a decorative border with a row of snowflakes. The motifs are made in linen stitch and provided with contour threads. The motifs are connected by a diamond-shaped lattice ground. In and around the motifs various machine-made decorative grounds are applied. The straight lower side of the strip is finished with picots.
