About this work
Cast-iron stove plate, divided into two zones. The upper zone features a representation of the Fall of Man in an oval cartouche, with Adam and Eve on either side of a tree in which a serpent coils around the trunk. Eve stands on the right, raising one arm toward the tree. Adam stands on the left, facing the center, holding an apple in his hand. The lower zone is largely lost, but appears to have an angel's head at the top center.
