About this work
Jug of stoneware on a high foot with an egg-shaped body and a wide neck with a pinched spout. The C-shaped handle is attached to the neck and the belly. Profiles on the neck, shoulder, belly, and foot. The front half of the jug is covered in cobalt blue. On the shoulder, impressed and applied relief medallions with the coat of arms of Saxony, alternating with cherub heads. On the belly, cherub heads and medallions with floral scrolls. The jug is mounted in a tin frame with bands around the neck and belly. The lid has a thumb handle in the shape of a face. Zeitz/Cologne/Thuringia.
