Jug with the coat of arms of Amsterdam and Saxony

Stoneware jug on a high foot with a cylindrical body, rounded shoulder, and wide, ribbed neck. Profiles on the body and foot. Covered with a brown engobe. On the belly in relief a printed and applied band, divided by pilasters into compartments in which alternately the coat of arms of Amsterdam, flanked by griffins, and the coat of arms of Saxony. The lower part of the belly slopes obliquely to the foot and has canelures. On the shoulder semicircular compartments with kerf-cutting between which a stamped, stylized floral scroll. The neck with a band of floral scrolls interrupted by masks in a medallion. Attached to the handle a tin mount with a lid. Copy based on the 16th-century Raeren type. Raeren.
