About this work
Stoneware jug on a high foot with a globular body and wide neck. The C-shaped handle is attached to the neck and shoulder. Some profiles on the neck and foot. Partially covered with cobalt blue. On the belly, in relief, a printed and applied monogram 'GR' (George Rex, i.e., King George of England) in a medallion with a crown, birds, and floral scrolls. On either side of the monogram, an engraved medallion with a rearing horse. Floral scrolls between the compartments. A tin mount with lid is attached to the handle. On the inside, a stamped mark (illegible). Westerwald.
