About this work
Cast-iron fireplace plate with a semicircular top. In the center stands the crowned Dutch Lion in the enclosed Dutch Garden, with an entrance gate in the foreground. On both sides, the year 1629. The whole is surrounded by several decorative bands, from inside to outside: an egg-and-dart border, a pearl border, and a rope-like band. At the top, the whole is crowned with five clover-shaped motifs.
