On the leaf is depicted an episode from the particularly beloved biblical story about the wooing and marriage of Isaac, which was frequently depicted on fan leaves. The most used - also here - was the moment when Eliezer handed over the jewelry and thereby made the actual proposal (Gen. 24:22). This is not surprising, since many of these fans were intended as wedding gifts. Eliezer was sent by Abraham to the city of Nahor to find a bride for his son Isaac. Once at the spring outside this city, Eliezer met Rebecca who gave him and his camels to drink and thereby became the bride for Isaac appointed by God. Thereupon Eliezer gave her a nose ring and two gold bracelets (Gen. 24:11-23). Notable is that the depiction of the biblical text deviates: Rebecca receives no nose ring but a necklace and the camels are missing. On the parchment leaf Rebecca and three women draw water from the spring.
