About this work

Strip of natural-colored bobbin lace: strap lace. The repeating pattern consists of a pointed oval surrounded by a trellis ground, a strap trellis ground, which at the top side quickly passes into open network of plaits. Just below the successive pointed ovals runs a straight band in linen stitch with a shallow shell border. The shell border is formed by an ornamental band of arches in linen stitch, which are coupled to each other with fields in strap trellis ground. The top side of the strip is finished straight, with a band in linen stitch from the plaitwork.
