Strip of bobbin lace with semi-circular field and trapezium-shaped cartouche

Strip of natural-colored bobbin lace: Valenciennes lace with Mechelen ground. The repeating pattern consists of a richly decorated half-circular field followed by a more or less trapezoidal field. The half-circular field is formed by a decorative band running from top to bottom with the rounding downwards. In the field hangs a curling stem with a peony and a plume-shaped flower attached to it. The trapezoidal field is formed by two diagonally hanging carnations between which a trapezoidal cartouche with rounded sides. The motifs are made in linen stitch with openwork edges and cutouts. In one flower center mesh stitch is applied as a decorative ground. Around the diagonally hanging carnations a lattice stitch is applied to realize coarser openwork contour lines. The top of the strip is finished straight. The scalloped edge follows the pattern and is finished with picots.
